NYFA Auditions and Interviews

NYFA Auditions and Interviews

NYFA Auditions and Interviews

The National Youth Film Academy meets with 1000’s of young filmmakers and actors each year at our audition days which are held around the UK. What happens on the day and what you need to prepare will depend on the role you are applying for.

Acting Audition: You should prepare a 1-2 minute monologue, which will be recorded and sent to our head offices to be reviewed. Following this there will be an informal interview with a representative of the NYFA.

Technical Interview: You will be informally interviewed by a representative of the NYFA; topics which may be discussed in the interview include your past experiences, why you would like to take part in the course and why you feel you are right for the role. You will need to bring supporting materials relevant to the role you’re applying for.

Don’t forget: All applicants must bring a completed application form with a passport-sized photograph attached to it.
Applicants should arrive 10 minutes before their allocated time slot and be prepared to wait until the end of this time slot.
For more information about the NYFA and the courses we offer check out our website ww.nyfa.org.uk

Why do we charge for the Interviews/Auditions?
The NYFA is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping the best and brightest young filmmakers in the UK. Because we have a very tight budget for the programme, we charge to cover the cost of auditions (venue hire, administration etc.). Any money left over is invested into the course itself in order to help keep costs to a minimum. Doing things this way allows the NYFA to provide the best possible experience to those of you lucky enough to be selected!

Othello

Othello, newly married to Desdemona who is half his age, is appointed leader of a military operation to defend Cyprus from the Turks. Iago, his ensign, passed over for promotion in favour of young Cassio, persuades Othello that Cassio and Desdemona are having an affair.

Oh, beware, my lord, of jealousy!
It is the green-eyed monster, which doth mock
The meat it feeds on.
That cuckold lives in bliss
Who certain of his fate loves not his wronger,
But O, what damnèd minutes tells he o’er,
Who dotes yet doubts, suspects, yet fondly loves!

Adrian Lester, last seen at the National as Henry V, takes the title role, playing opposite Rory Kinnear (Iago), whose recent appearances at the National include Hamlet and The Last of the Haussmans.
