The extras division of an established agency is now casting – having cast for many major films, TV productions and commercials, including Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows, Eastenders and Dr Who, they now require more supporting artists.

Having previously cast for a multitude of major films and TV programmes, including Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows, Eastenders, Casualty, X-Men, Dr Who, The World Is Not Enough, and hundreds of high profile commercials, new projects mean they now require more supporting artists to work in London and nationwide.
Audition listing expires Sunday 31 March 2013

CASTING BREAKDOWN

MELANIE (MEL) (Female)
25 years. Artistic type who hasn’t actually done or made anything. Failed most/all exams at school but is smart, sharp and witty. Could probably write a Man Booker Prize-winning novel if she gave a shit. On anti-depressants. Has definitely been in hospital with depression

NEIL (Male)
32 years. Artist, in an extremely non-prolific way. Ex-boyfriend of Naomi. Unconfident, perennially weary, always single and still desperately in love with Naomi.

ANNA (Female)
28 years. Ice queen. Pristine, looks like she’s stepped out of an advert for kitchens or something. Used to be a borderline drug addict. Now married to “Pentecostal Gary”, and is converted to his religion – although one suspects her heart may not be in it. Or at least her mind. The middle sister. Works as a writer for a cooking magazine.

NAOMI (Female)
30 years. A successful lawyer. Eldest daughter. Attractive, intelligent, but with a vulnerable edge. A sense of never being 100% comfortable. She dated Neil from the age of 18 to 24.

CAREY (Female)
30 years. Unruly, abrasive, confident, promiscuous. She is one of Naomi’s oldest friends. Engaged to someone she barely likes, works in London at a psychic chat line, despite not believing in any of that whatsoever.

ALICE (Female)
29. Sweet, unintentionally funny hairdresser, who lives in Kingly. Another of Naomi’s oldest friends. One sandwich short of a picnic but has a heart of gold.

SANDBOX by Edward Davenport
Mandy, and her brother, Jody, suddenly have the weight of the world upon them when they are forced to leave their family home and live on a council estate, miles from where they grew up. Their father spends every night drunk, their mother has ran off with her new partner and money is scarce. Mandy steadfastly holds the family together and is determined not to see them go down. Jody thinks he has a way out. However, his way out is at the expense of everything Mandy has ever fought for or believed in.

CASTING DATE
4th April 2013

REHEARSALS
10-12 hours between 9th-13th April 2013 in Old Street

CASTING BREAKDOWN

MANDY (Female)
Early 20’s. The sister and keeper of the family. You would assume, at first, that she was older.
Not because of how she looks, but more that she is clearly the sister-turned-matriarch
who has needed to do a lot of growing up very quickly. She has great strength but is always being pushed to her limits.

JODY (Male)
16 years. Slightly rough looking. At first glance you could be forgiven for thinking he was somebody you would think it best to avoid. Although a closer look you would strongly suggest this to not be the case at all. Not too bright, although his heart is in the right place. He also suffers mildly from ADHD.

GLEAM by Aren Devlin

28 years, London or standard English accent

CASTING DATE
4th April 2013

REHEARSALS

CASTING BREAKDOWN
JADE (Female)
Mid-late 20’s. The middle child and sister. Also well present, although not to the pin-sharp precision of her older brother. She works as a nurse. She is good natured and offer ends up in the middle of her brothers joshing. She is more of a quite type although not subdued. There is a maturity to her that is not present in her brothers.

MICHAEL (Male)
Mid 20’s. The youngest of the siblings and very much the prodigal son. He left home as soon as he could and only shows up to family events when he absolutely must. Ex-Army and now works selling tyres. Had dreams of becoming a footballer that never came to fruition and is now just treading water. He is the Cane to Joel’s Able.

JOYCE (Female)
Mid 50’S. Very much the keep-up-appearances type in the sense that she never lets the outside world know what’s wrong with her. Never a hair out of place. She is the landlady of a pub which is situated below the family home. She is mother to Joel, Michael and Jade.

JOEL (Male)
Early 30’s. The eldest brother and apple of his mother eye. He is a young barrister and a graduate of Cambridge. Everything a mother could want in a son.

Short cuts

After a fantastic, majority sell out, four star reviewed and all round successful Short Cuts 3, we are now in preparation for Short Cuts 4! Short Cuts 4 will take place from the 1st to 7th July 2013 at The Hen and Chickens Theatre in Islington, London, at 7pm.

We are looking for THREE brand new, as yet unperformed DARK COMEDY short plays to do with the theme of METAMORPHOSIS. I don’t mind what they are about (within reason, I mean no pornography please. Plays should be 15 minutes in length, with a MAXIMUM of three characters, a few hand held props and try please to stick to basic technical requirements of just minimal lighting and sound cues.
